Never installed an app outside the Play Store before? No problem. Installing the Muse AI APK takes about a minute, and you don’t need any technical knowledge. This guide works on Samsung, Xiaomi, Redmi, Oppo, Vivo, Realme, Infinix, Tecno and pretty much every other Android phone.
First, get the file: download the official Muse AI APK from our website. It’s the original app from Meta, never modified.
Before you start
- A stable internet connection
- Some free storage space on your phone
- A Meta account (your Facebook or Instagram login)
- You need to be 18 or older to use Muse
Step 1: Download the APK
Open our download section in Chrome and tap Download Muse AI APK. The download starts straight away. Chrome may show a warning that this type of file can harm your device. That message appears for every APK file, so tap Download anyway.
Step 2: Check the file (optional)
Want to be extra sure? Use any free hash checker app to get the SHA-256 code of the downloaded file and compare it with the one on our download section. If they match, your file is exactly the original.
Step 3: Open the file and allow the install
Tap the downloaded file in your notifications or in your Downloads folder. Android will say that for your security, your phone isn’t allowed to install unknown apps from this source. Tap Settings, switch on Allow from this source, then go back.
This gives permission only to Chrome (or your file manager), not to every app on your phone.
Step 4: Install and open Muse
Tap Install and wait a few seconds. Google Play Protect may scan the app first, which is normal. When it’s done, tap Open, or find Muse in your app drawer.
Step 5: Sign in with your Meta account
Log in with the same account you use for Facebook or Instagram. You can then give your agent a name and avatar and start chatting. When Muse asks to connect to other apps, start with Allow once until you’re comfortable with how it works.
Step 6: Switch the install permission off
Go to Settings > Apps > Special app access > Install unknown apps, choose Chrome and turn the switch off. On Xiaomi and some other phones the menu is under Privacy or Security, but it’s always called Install unknown apps.
Fixing common install problems
- App not installed: usually not enough storage, or an older copy from another source is already on the phone. Uninstall any old version and try again.
- There was a problem parsing the package: the download didn’t finish. Delete the file and download it again.
- Blocked by Play Protect: make sure the file came from our site and the checksum matches. The official Meta app passes Play Protect.
- Not available after sign-in: this is a regional limit from Meta, not an install problem. Read our not available guide.
